Depois de muita conversa e de uma forte mobilização dos fãs de “Avenida Brasil”, a Globo finalmente se acertou com Karol Lannes. A atriz assinou contrato para voltar a interpretar Ágata na continuação da novela de João Emanuel Carneiro, prevista para ir ao ar em 2027.
A escalação de Karol não estava definida desde o início. A Globo chegou a testar outras atrizes para viver Ágata adulta, decisão que provocou reação nas redes sociais. Para boa parte do público, não fazia sentido trocar justamente a intérprete que marcou a personagem na versão original, exibida em 2012.

A discussão ganhou ainda outro contorno por causa da trajetória de Karol. A atriz já falou publicamente sobre gordofobia e contou que, depois de “Avenida Brasil”, ouviu que precisaria emagrecer muito para conseguir novos trabalhos na televisão. Lésbica assumida, ela também aborda abertamente questões relacionadas à sexualidade e ao preconceito.

Com isso, a possibilidade de a Globo escolher outra atriz para Ágata levou parte dos telespectadores a levantar questionamentos sobre os motivos para Karol não ser chamada. Nas redes sociais, houve quem acusasse a emissora de preconceito e cobrasse a presença da intérprete original. Não há, no entanto, qualquer indicação de que peso ou orientação sexual tenham sido fatores considerados pela Globo na escalação.
A discussão, agora, ficou para trás. Depois de negociações, Globo e Karol chegaram a um acordo, e a atriz será novamente Ágata. E sua presença está longe de ser apenas uma homenagem à novela de 2012. Ágata terá papel fundamental na continuação. A nova história será construída em torno de uma pergunta que promete acompanhar o público: afinal, Carminha (Adriana Esteves) mudou de verdade?
Mais de uma década depois dos acontecimentos da primeira novela, a vilã tentará se reaproximar da família. A relação com Tufão (Murilo Benício) voltará a entrar em cena, assim como a tentativa de reconstruir os laços com Ágata.
É justamente aí que estará um dos principais motores da continuação. Carminha estará procurando a filha porque se arrependeu da maneira como a tratou e deseja recuperar o tempo perdido ou haverá algum interesse por trás dessa aproximação? E a tentativa de voltar para a vida de Tufão será consequência de uma transformação verdadeira ou apenas mais uma estratégia da personagem?
Ágata será essencial para que o público consiga decifrar essa nova Carminha. Na novela original, a menina era constantemente humilhada pela mãe por causa de seu peso e, apesar disso, buscava desesperadamente seu afeto. A relação entre as duas foi uma das mais cruéis da trajetória da vilã.
Agora, adulta e vivida novamente por Karol Lannes, Ágata estará diante de uma Carminha que tentará convencê-la — e também convencer o público — de que não é mais a mesma mulher de 2012.
