Vamos simplificar: GLP-1 é um hormônio produzido naturalmente pelo nosso organismo. Ele ajuda o corpo a controlar a quantidade de açúcar no sangue e também participa da sensação de saciedade depois das refeições.

A partir desse mecanismo, foram desenvolvidos medicamentos que imitam algumas das ações do GLP-1. Eles são usados em tratamentos médicos específicos, principalmente para diabetes tipo 2. Dependendo do medicamento e de sua indicação aprovada, essa classe também pode ter aplicações relacionadas ao controle do peso.

É aí que entram as famosas “canetas”. Alguns desses medicamentos são aplicados por meio de dispositivos em formato de caneta, o que ajudou a transformar o assunto em um dos grandes temas de saúde dos últimos anos.
Mas tem uma coisa importante: GLP-1 não é sinônimo de remédio para emagrecer. Existem diferentes medicamentos que atuam nesse mecanismo, com indicações, doses e características próprias.
Outra novidade é que o mercado brasileiro passou a contar com medicamentos de semaglutida produzida por síntese química. Em 2026, a Anvisa aprovou novas opções dessa tecnologia, entre elas o Semavy, da Mantecorp.
E o que significa “sintética”? É mais simples do que parece: significa que a substância é produzida por síntese química, em laboratório. A Anvisa chama esses produtos de análogos sintéticos de peptídeos biológicos.
