O Santos acabou punido após o caso de cusparada contra Reinaldo, do Mirassol, em jogo do Brasileirão. O STJD puniu o clube com o pagamento de uma multa de R$ 15 mil com base no Código Brasileiro de Justiça Desportiva.
O Santos foi penalizado com a multa com base no artigo 213, inciso 1º por “deixar de tomar providências capazes de prevenir e reprimir desordens em sua praça de desporto”. O clube, no entanto, acabou se livrando de pena maior como perda de mando de campo.
