A Seleção Brasileira terá uma mudança no elenco para os próximos compromissos internacionais. João Pedro, atacante do Chelsea, foi cortado da convocação de Carlo Ancelotti por causa de uma lesão. A informação foi comunicada pela Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF), nesta quarta-feira (16/9). Para ocupar a vaga deixada pelo jogador, Ancelotti convocou Martinelli, do Fluminense. O meio-campista passa a integrar o grupo que enfrentará a Austrália em dois amistosos, nos dias 25 e 29 de setembro, na Oceania.
A ausência de João Pedro ocorre pouco depois de o atacante voltar a aparecer entre os convocados da Seleção. O jogador do Chelsea não participou da Copa do Mundo de 2026 por opção técnica de Ancelotti.
