O cantor Ed Sheeran passou a sofrer um boicote nas redes sociais e a perder a parceria com os artistas que realizariam o show de abertura em sua turnê. A decisão veio após o artista britânico ter retirado o rapper Macklemore da “Loop Tour” por realizar uma manifestação de apoio à Palestina durante uma apresentação em shows em Nova York, nos EUA.
Os cantores Finneas, Aaron Rowe e Lukas Graham e a banda Beoga, que fariam shows de abertura pela turnê “Loop Tour”, anunciaram nesta terça-feira (15/9) que não irão mais realizar as participações nas apresentações, como forma de apoio a Macklemore. Com isso, o ruivo perdeu todas as atrações que abririam o seu show em eventos mundiais até 11 de dezembro.

Nas redes sociais, artistas e fãs criticaram, classificando a postura do cantor como “apolítica”. No Instagram, o ator espanhol Javier Bardem publicou uma mensagem pedindo boicote a Ed Sheeran. O assunto ficou entre os mais citados no X – antigo Twitter – e alguns dos internautas alegaram estar decepcionados com o artista pela decisão de retirar Macklemore da turnê.
Entenda a polêmica
Macklemore, apontado como amigo de longa data de Ed, abriu os shows da etapa dos EUA, mas não estará nas próximas datas. O rapper realizou uma manifestação de apoio à Palestina no primeiro show, gritando “Palestina livre”, em 4 de setembro e voltou a falar no assunto na segunda noite: “A todos os meus irmãos e irmãs judeus: criticar Israel, criticar o apartheid e opor-se ao genocídio não é, de forma alguma, uma crítica a vocês”, disse na ocasião.
Após a ação, a Messina Touring Group, empresa que promove a etapa estadunidense da turnê, solicitou que Ed Sheeran retirasse o rapper dos show seguintes. O astro tomou a decisão de seguir sem Macklemore nas apresentações e gerou revolta entre fãs e também na classe artística, sofrendo boicote dentro da própria turnê.
O que diz Ed Sheeran
O cantor também se manifestou nesta terça-feira (15/9), por meio de um post feito no Instagram. Ele se defendeu e afirmou que a decisão de demitir o rapper do show de abertura não partiu dele. Segundo o artista, após o discurso de Macklemore, os locais dos próximos shows de sua turnê comunicaram que cancelariam as apresentações caso ele continuasse participando.
“Fui informado de que essa posição se baseava na forma como Macklemore transmitiu parte de sua mensagem durante a apresentação, e não em tudo o que foi dito”, afirmou. “Passei toda a semana conversando longamente com os locais na tentativa de construir uma ponte. Uma dessas pessoas foi Robert Kraft. Também participei de conversas diretas com produtores, além de ativistas de ambos os lados, na tentativa de encontrar uma solução que atendesse a todos, mas a decisão dos locais e do produtor foi final”, completou.
Robert Kraft se trata de um dos grandes empresários da NFL – Liga Nacional de Futebol Americano – e dono do New England Patriots. Nas próximas apresentações, o britânico fará uma apresentação no Gillette Stadium, propriedade do Kraft Group. Segundo Macklemore, Sheeran afirmou que Kraft não teria dado permissão para que o rapper se apresentasse no estádio dele.

Ed sheeran está com o shows marcado no Brasil nos dias 5 e 6 de dezembro, no Nubank Parque, em São Paulo. Na ocasião, Finneas havia sido anunciado como ato de abertura e até o momento, não há confirmação de quem o substituirá.
