Uma mansão de Nicolas Cage avaliada em cerca de R$ 53 milhões passou a correr risco após uma grande cratera se abrir praticamente em frente à propriedade, em Malibu, na Califórnia. O imóvel, comprado pelo ator em 2024 por US$ 10,5 milhões, teve parte do acesso comprometida pelo colapso do terreno. A residência fica na Sea Level Drive, área próxima ao Oceano Pacífico.
Imagens feitas no local mostram o asfalto cedendo a poucos metros da construção, o que levou autoridades a restringirem a circulação pela região. O desabamento também atingiu a infraestrutura subterrânea e provocou rompimentos em tubulações de água e gás. Até o momento, não há confirmação de danos estruturais na mansão. Construída em 1994, a propriedade tem aproximadamente 366 m² distribuídos em quatro pavimentos, além de quatro suítes e seis banheiros.

O problema não atingiu apenas a casa do ator. Outros imóveis da Sea Level Drive também tiveram os acessos afetados enquanto equipes avaliam as condições do solo e realizam reparos. A erosão costeira, agravada por condições recentes do mar e pelas chuvas na região, está entre as causas apontadas para o colapso. Apesar da proximidade da cratera, até agora não há informação de que Nicolas Cage tenha precisado abandonar definitivamente a residência.
